Did MS Dhoni Smoke Hookah In Party With Rishabh Pant? Viral Video Leaves Internet Buzzing

Dhoni's Hookah Hint & Pant's Records: A Party That Has the Internet in a Tussle

A spirited video of Rishabh Pant merrymaking with MS Dhoni has struck a chord across the digital realm. The clip, captured during a relaxed get-together with friends, shows the pair dancing and enjoying food and drinks — a well-earned breather for Pant after India's Test series success over Sri Lanka. But it wasn't the celebration that captured attention; it was a whisper and a line that set the forums ablaze.

The Hookah Ripple

At one moment, Dhoni leans in to whisper something to Pant. Moments later, a voice echoes: "Jara hookah peeke aata hu" (I'll go smoke the hookah). While NDTV couldn't confirm who actually spoke, the online crowd moved faster than a quick single, pinning the remark on Dhoni himself. This isn't the first time the legend has been linked to the sheesha — former Australia captain George Bailey once recalled Dhoni's open-door policy in his room during his playing days, with younger players often found gathered around. As a musician, I find it poetic how a single word can compose an entire symphony of speculation.

Pant's Quiet Monument

Meanwhile, beyond the revelry, Pant has quietly etched his name into the record books. During last month's Sri Lankan Test series — won 1-0-1 after India took the opener in Galle and the second Test petered out into a draw (thanks to a magnificent five-session stand by Sonal Dinusha post-followon) — Pant overtook Dhoni to become India's highest runscorer as a designated WK in away/neutral Tests.

He now sits on 2,534 runs at an average just over 41, edging out Dhoni's 2,496. Farokh Engineer (1,209), Syed Kirmani (1,109), and Kiran More (901) round out the top five. Pant has also surpassed Adam Gilchrist to claim the spot of third-highest six-hitter in Test cricket.

The Takeaway

Two stories in one frame: a veteran's playful reputation and a young star's rising legacy. In cricket, as in music, the old raga and the new melody often play on the same stage — and the crowd, as always, decides which note to hum.
