Bangladesh batter slams 350*, overtakes England legend to break 77-year-old batting record in South Africa

**Hridoy's 350* Rewrites History in Potchefstroom** π
Bangladesh's Towhid Hridoy has etched his name into record books with a colossal 350 not out for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in the second unofficial Test in Potchefstroom. This knock isn't just a personal milestone β it's a piece of cricket history being rewritten.
Beating the 77-Year-Old Mark
Hridoy's ton is the highest first-class score by any overseas batter in South Africa, dethroning England legend Denis Compton. Back in December 1948, Compton piled on 300 for MCC against North Eastern Transvaal in Benoni β a mark that stood for 77 years. Our boy from '26 just wiped it off the board.
A Bangladeshi Milestone
The 25-year-old is now only the third Bangladeshi to fire a triple hundred in FC cricket, joining the elite company of Tamim Iqbal (334*) and Raqibul Hasan (313*). He's also the first from the nation to hit a triple century away from home, and his 350* stands as the highest ever by a Bangladeshi batter.
The Captain's Knock
Coming in at No.4 with the team wobbling at 372/11, Hridoy played it like a true leader. He weathered the storm after losing Naim (34) and Afif (29) cheaply, then stitched massive stands β 151 with Jaker Ali (5th wk, who fell 6 short of a ton) and a thundering 185 with Saifuddin (87) (6th wk). Even when the hosts clawed back to trim the total, Hridoy opened up the taps, finishing unbeaten with Rejaur Rahman Raja (31*) for a blinding 157 in the 9th stand. He then declared at 350* with the visitors at a staggering 676/8 β the game ended in a draw.
Earlier in the Day
South Africa A batted first and posted a healthy 512, powered by tons from Lesego Senokwane (111) and Sinethemba Qeshile (128), with useful 60s from Zubayr Humza (68) and Kyle Simmonds (66).
Despite Hridoy's masterclass, SA A took the 2-match series 1-0 after sealing Game 1 by an innings and 413 runs.
A night to savour β pure craftsmanship at the crease. π½οΈπ
