IND vs HK, Women's Asia Cup 2026: Harmanpreet’s side look to strengthen semi-final hopes

India vs Hong Kong: Harmanpreet's Side Eye Semifinal Boost 🏏

Evening, cricket family! 💫 Here's what's dancing onto the pitch—literally, this match feels like a well-choreographed performance coming up!

India step out against Hong Kong in Group A of the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium today. After a commanding 94-run rout of Thailand, they sit top of the group with 2 points and a stellar NRR of +4.700. Hong Kong, meanwhile, are under the spotlight—they slipped to a narrow 6-run defeat against Thailand, finishing 114/7 while chasing just 120. They need a win to stay in this tournament.

Fixing the Batting Wobble 🎭

Don't let that comfortable win fool you—India have some concerns with the bat. Cruising at 101/2 after 10 overs, they then tumbled, losing 7 wickets for just 29 to finish on 159/9. It was like watching a beautiful dance stumble in its final act! Shafali Verma was the star, smashing a fiery 64 off 36 balls. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal will want to convert their starts, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur is looking to find her rhythm once more.

This is a perfect chance to rebuild confidence before the tougher clash against Pakistan on Sept 5.

Bowling Perfection 🌟

If the bat wobbled, the bowling was pure art. Deepti Sharma made history with sensational 3/0 figures, becoming the leading wicket-taker in women's T20Is. She also became only the third Indian woman—after Harmanpreet and Mandhana—to reach 150 T20I appearances. What a milestone!

Hong Kong's Fighting Spirit 🔥

As underdogs, Hong Kong showed grit. Marina Lamplough was outstanding with 4/11, and Kary Chan gave impetus with a quickfire 28 off 20 balls. Lamplough will be crucial against India's dangerous top order—but HK need a far stronger batting display to threaten the seven-time champions.

Let's see who steals the show! 💃
