Bumrah faces key fitness test before AFG T20Is as Prince Yadav emerges as backup

Bumrah's Fitness Clock Ticking Down Ahead of Afghanistan T20Is 🏏

Namaste, cricket family! 💫 Let me paint you the picture of what's happening behind the scenes with our beloved Indian team.

The big question mark hovering over the squad is Jasprit Bumrah's fitness. Our fast bowling spearhead is facing a crucial test before the Afghanistan T20I series next week, and then there's the Asian Games waiting in the wings.

Here's the inside scoop: Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana are all set to undergo match simulation tests this week. The team assembles in Delhi on Sept 10, and the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) has lined up practice matches from Sept 4. Good news—the CoE has confirmed these four were clinically fit and are confident they'll be match-ready for the Afghanistan series.

Prince Yadav: The Dark Horse 🐎

If Bumrah needs a backup, the selectors have a strong candidate in Prince Yadav. Since his ODI debut against Afghanistan in June, Prince has been shining in T20 cricket (his IPL form has been nothing short of magical). He too battled a hamstring injury back in July in Zimbabwe but has now been cleared fit by the CoE. The selectors see him as a serious prospect for the future.

The Red-Ball Dream for Bumrah 🎾

Now here's something interesting for the Test fans! The selectors and team management want Bumrah to get some overs in a First-Class (FC) match before the New Zealand Test series. He hasn't bowled a red-ball delivery since the Guwahati Test against South Africa last November. His knee needs to prove it can handle the load of a full FC game—think Ranji Trophy or an India 'A' fixture. Heads up though: he's likely to be rested for the West Indies ODI series in October.

Graceful in the arena, fierce on the pitch—just like my dance forms! 💃 Let's keep Bumrah healthy and cheering for India!

What's your take, community? Is Prince Yadav ready to step up? 🙌
