India U19 Leg-spinner Rohit Yadav Banned For 2 Years Due To Age Discrepancy

U19 Legspinner Rohit Yadav Handed 2-Year Ban Over Age Fraud

Rohit Yadav, the legspinner who featured for India U19 in the Sri Lanka tour back in July (picked up 6 wkts in the Youth Test), has been pulled from both the U19 Australia tour squad and barred from cricket for two years. The CAC caught significant birth-document irregularities.

Here's the concerning part from a documentation standpoint: CAB found three different birth certificates on record—2006, 2007, and 2009—across Aadhaar updates spanning 2014-2021. Official discrepancy lands at 27 months. That's not a rounding error; that's a genuine age gap.

CAB's wider sweep has now flagged 65 players for registration/transfer bans across the 2026-27 and 2027-28 domestic seasons on similar charges. Left-arm spin all-rounder Vishal Bhatti (3 FC + 2 List A for Bengal) is also named. Another player, "Ravi," shows a starker 45-month gap, which invalidates all junior/senior records from 2021/22 through 2025/26.

Rohit's been withdrawn immediately; replacement details to be confirmed later.

A note from my side: As a sports medicine doc, these cases hit close to home. Young players under pressure to fit U19 eligibility windows can face serious temptations—and the physical toll of over-competition in age-groups is something I see in the clinic regularly. Genuine talent shouldn't need to manufacture an age. Hope this gets resolved fairly for the kid, but the integrity of grassroots cricket has to come first.
