England quick takes career-best figures to help county claw back in relegation dogfight after 83 all out

Fisher's Sixer Sends Surrey Chasing Victory in Relegation Scrap
What a week for Matt Fisher! The all-rounder grabbed a career-best 6/25 to drag Surrey back into this County Championship clash against Yorkshire, keeping their Division One survival hopes alive.
Yorkshire batted first and fell for a modest 185, with Tom Lawes (4/36) and Daniel Worrall (3/40) sharing the spoils. But Surrey's own bat floundered badly—bowled out for just 83 in 30 overs. Ollie Pope was the lone bright spot, the only batter to reach double figures, as Ben Coad and Jack White picked up 3 wickets each.
Then Fisher struck. Yorkshire collapsed even harder in their second knock, losing their first four wickets for 36 before being dismissed for 82. Fisher ripped through them in just nine overs for his best first-class figures yet. That left Surrey needing 185 to seal a win that could prove massive in the relegation dogfight.
Day two saw openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley steady the ship, taking the side to 270/unknown at stumps—still 158 short of the target.
For context, Fisher played two Tests for England (debut 2022) but returned after a four-year international exile during the Oval Test vs NZ, where he top-scored with 50* and grabbed 5 wickets. Curiously left out of the Pakistan series squad, he's clearly rediscovering his rhythm here.
Surrey sit eighth, just four points clear of ninth-placed Leicestershire, having won only once all season. A win over seventh-placed Yorkshire tmr could turn things around for the three-time champions, who've gone six without a victory.
Big points on the line—Surrey need to hold their nerve in that second session. 🏏
