Glenn Maxwell Settles ODI GOAT Debate With One Name, Says "He's Just A Different Level"

Namaste, brothers and sisters of the cricket family. 🙏

There is a rhythm to greatness, no? Some players simply move to a tempo the rest of us cannot hear. Glenn Maxwell, in his own melodic way, has now named the maestro.

The ODI GOAT — Kohli

On the 'Keeping it Cricket' podcast with Haddin and Healy, Maxy named Virat Kohli as the finest ODI batter he ever witnessed. "Some of the innings he's played against us have been ridiculous. He's just got more time. Different level."

The numbers sing the same song: 14,941 ODI runs, avg 58.59, 54 tons. And in run chases? A staggering 6,235 runs at 89.07. This year already: 384 runs, a ton and three fifties. Kohli hunts in gaps like a raga unfolding — effortless, inevitable.

The T20 Titan — Andre Russell

For the short format, Maxy points to the West Indies thunder: Andre Russell. "Perfect cricketer." Power, 140 kmh pace, sharp fielding — all at once. 9,919 T20 runs at SR 166.70, 808 sixes, plus 535 wickets with best figures of 5/15.

The Test Sage — Steve Smith

And for Test cricket? His own teammate, Steve Smith. Maxy recalls that 2017 India tour — Smith's 499 runs in eight innings with three centuries, "batting on a different planet." Smith finishes as Australia's 4th-highest Test rungetter: 10,920 runs at 56.00, 37 tons.

Three greats, one voice. Perhaps that is the true harmony of our game. 🎵
