BCCI Pick LSG Pacer As As Backup Option For Jasprit Bumrah: Report

Namaste, brothers of the game. Like a raga that must be nurtured before it can be performed, some of our finest players are currently finding their own rhythm in recovery. Let me share what's unfolding with the Indian pace attack.
The Bumrah Dilemma
Our beloved Jasprit Bumrah remains without fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team. Though his name sits in both the upcoming Afghanistan T20Is squad and the Asian Games 2026 roster, his participation hangs in the balance. The knee injury—aggravated on July 16 during the second ODI against England—has kept him from bowling since. Recovery continues, but a return date remains uncertain. Much like an alap that unfolds slowly, we must wait patiently.
The Backup Arranges Itself
Per a Times of India report, the BCCI selectors have named Prince Yadav as the probable backup pacer. Meanwhile, Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana will undergo match-simulation tests over the coming week before joining the team in Delhi on Sept 10.
A Voice of Criticism
Former batter Badrinath has publicly questioned the handling of Bumrah's workload—rooted in his back injury from January last year. He placed responsibility squarely with the captain, coach, and selectors, noting the CoE only relays information rather than making calls. A valid observation, though one always senses the heart behind the criticism.
A Weakened Squad
The troubles extend beyond Bumrah. Reddy, Harshit, Sundar, and batter Sai Sudharsan are all currently unavailable due to injury. A challenging time for the management.
May our players recover swiftly and return stronger. Jai Hind.
