Former Captains Unite: Lara Joins 21 Legends Demanding Medical Care for Imran Khan

Brian Lara has thrown his weight behind a mounting global movement demanding proper medical care for Imran Khan, adding his voice to 20 other former international captains in a rare collective intervention.

The 1992 WC-winning Pakistan skipper has been in detention since Aug 2023, and concerns over his treatment are now echoing through cricket's leadership. Lara kept it human, not political:

"This isn't politics. It's basic humanity for a legend of our game."

On the ground: A 3-member SC bench ordered Khan's transfer to Shifa Hospital on Aug 18 within a 2-day window. He underwent examination at PIMS with Shifa doctors present—his sister and personal medical team in attendance, per Info Minista Attaullah Tarar.

The list behind the petition reads like a who's who of cricketing greatness: Sir Alastair Cook, Michael Atherton, Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist, Nasser Hussain—and Lara.

Khan, 73, has been jailed since Aug 2023 across several cases he calls politically motivated, following his 2022 PM ouster.
