Duleep Trophy 2026 Final: East Zone vs South Zone Set for Chennai Showdown

What a final this is shaping up to be, folks! East Zone and South Zone lock horns at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, starting tomorrow (Sept 6), 9:30am IST. Think of it like a slow-cooked biryani—everything's been building up to this grand finale. 🍚🏏

The Confidence Factor

East Zone are strutting about on the back of back-to-back semis wins over NE Zone and Central Zone. The headlines belong to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (92 & 40 vs Central in the semi) and Mohammed Shami, who finally found his boots with a 5-wicket haul after a wicketless quarterfinal. When a bwl clicks like that, you know trouble's brewing for the opposition bat.

South Zone – Stronger Without Their Star?

South Zone come in without KL Rahul and Vidwath Kaverappa, but here's the twist—Siraj and Devdutt Padikkal have joined the squad after the SL Test series. Big boost! Skipper Tilak Varma was absolutely sensational in the semi vs North Zone, going top-score with a ton and a fifty, staying not out in both innings. That kind of dominance is pure class.

A Little Change of Scene

The final was originally booked at the BCCI Centre of Excellence but got shifted to the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium to bring the fans closer. Five-day contest, live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network. Sadly, no international telecast outside India.

The Record Book

Historically, East Zone have won 2 of their 7 finals, while South Zone are absolute kings—14 titles from 25 appearances (plus 2 shared). Can East Zone pull off the giant-killing? That's what we're here to find out!
