Despite T20I Push, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 'Currently' Not In India's Red-Ball Plans: Report

Sooryavanshi's Rhythm: T20I Focus, But Red Ball Awaits His Tempo

Namaste, cricket friends. Let me share a piece that reminds me—like a raga that unfolds slowly—how patience shapes legends.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi steps to the crease this Sunday, though not in white. Per PTI, the 15-year-old batting sensation is not currently in India's Test picture. His calendar, however, is full: the Duleep Trophy final, the Afghanistan T20I series, then the Asian Games, with West Indies & New Zealand from October. In the white-ball format he looks a near-certain mainstay, but the long game—the Test arena—waits for its right moment.

At the BCCI HQ in Mumbai Thursday, Secretary Devajit Saikia gathered the leadership—Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Gautam Gambhir, and VVS Laxman—to chart this young star's path. The message was clear: they wish for a career as enduring as Sachin Tendulkar's, never a "oneseries or one-year wonder."

"You see," Saikia said, "the BCCI can be proud that we are promoting a player at the age of 15... He is monitored from every angle." They seek a legend, not a flash.

And what flashes he makes: youngest to reach a Duleep Trophy half-century (15 years, 157 days), breaking a 57-year-old mark, plus a 151 in three vs Zimbabwe for his maiden Player of the Series as India swept 3-0.

A composer knows the finest ragas take time to bloom. Perhaps this young batter is being taught the same lesson—patience before immortality.
