"Remarkable Performance": Richa Ghosh's Father Hails India's Dominant Win Over Pakistan In Women's Asia Cup

Richa's Family Cheers India's Dominant Win Over Pakistan

What a clinical display by the Indian women, what rhythm they found. Behind the scenes, Richa Ghosh's father Manabendra shared his thoughts with ANI—and the emotion runs deep. "Whenever there's a match against Pakistan, we get very excited; the sentiment is that we simply have to beat them," he said. He praised India's bowling, which held Pakistan out for a mere 55 in 18.1 overs. "They bowled the opposition out for a very low score—it was a remarkable performance."

For any parent, seeing their child shine on such a stage is its own celebration. "Having a girl from our own hometown on the team is a source of great pride; she is always making us proud," he added.

Richa Behind the Stumps

Richa didn't get to bat—India chased down a modest 56 in just 8.4 overs—but she made her mark behind the stumps. Two dismissals to her name: she stumped Tuba Hassan off Deepti Sharma's bowling, and gathered a catch to dismiss Nashra Sandhu off Prema Rawat. Sharp work, calm hands.

The Bowling Attack

The spinners ran through Pakistan's order like a raga unfolding. Shree Charani (3/7) and Prema Rawat (3/9) were the chief architects, each claiming three wickets. Deepti took two, Shafali Verma one. Pakistan looked steady early through Muneeba Ali and Shawaal Zulfiqar, but Shafali broke the partnership by bowling Muneeba for 13. Charani then struck twice in the next over, and Pakistan never truly recovered—slipping to 35/6 before folding for 55.

The Chase

Shafali gave India an explosive start, hitting a six off the first ball—though she was dismissed for 12 by skipper Fatima Sana. Sana also removed Smriti Mandhana for 9, leaving India at 29/3. But Harmanpreet Kaur (18*) and Deepti Sharma (12*) steered the chase home with grace.

A special moment too: Shafali completed 3,000 runs in Women's T20Is, becoming the youngest player to reach the milestone at 22 years and 220 days.

Perfect Campaign

This victory completed India's perfect group-stage run—three wins against Thailand, Hong Kong, and Pakistan, six points on the board. The defending champions move forward in fine form.
