West Indies all-rounder smashes three last-over sixes to seal chaotic one-wicket WCPL win

Henry's Last-Over Heroics Seal Thriller in Maiden WCPL Clash!

What a game the Jamaica Empress and Guyana Amazon Warriors served up in their first-ever Women's Caribbean Premier League encounter, and Chinelle Henry was the chef de cuisine here. Her unbeaten 41 off just 21 balls—complete with three last-over sixes—cooked up a one-wicket win that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

The Chase That Had It All

Empress were cruising at 102/5 with two balls left in the 17th over, chasing 139, when rain forced a stoppage. The target dropped to 132 in 19 overs, setting the stage for drama. On resume, they needed 30 off 16, but wickets fell at crucial moments—Aaliyah Alleyne and Zaida James both went for ducks, leaving Empress hanging by a thread.

The Grand Dessert

With 17 needed off the final six balls, Henry delivered the perfect finishing touch. After some chaotic run-outs and a confused final over, she smashed two sixes on the last delivery to seal a nail-biting victory. Player of the Match for a truly all-round show!

The Building Blocks

Openers Rashada Williams and Meg Lanning laid a solid foundation with 31 apiece, and Djenaba Joseph quick-fired 19 off three balls. On the other side, Realeanna Grimmond (45) and Shemaine Campbelle (56) put on a 97-run stand to keep the Warriors competitive, but it wasn't enough.

Both teams next face the Trinbago Knight Riders on Sept 10 and 12. This league is shaping up to be a real feast!
