Ishan Kishan scores 250 in Duleep Trophy final to press Test comeback case

Ishan Kishan's 250 in Duleep Trophy Final: A Statement Knock for a Test Recall

Big innings alert. Ishan Kishan fired a monumental 250 for East Zone against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy final, retiring hurt after a grueling full day at the crease. This is easily one of the biggest domestic knocks of his career and lands at the perfect time—he's actively pushing for a Test comeback.

Kishan was on from the first ball of the day and only walked back once his marathon stand was complete. Per BCCI Domestic, despite getting a well-earned reprieve, East Zone chose NOT to declare even after his departure. Md Kounain Quraishi joined Anukul Roy to keep pushing the total higher. Smart call by the management—they wanted maximum pressure on South Zone, either setting a huge target or forcing a follow-on.

What this means for East Zone:

That 250 gave them a commanding grip on the final. Refusing to declare sent a clear message: they wanted to stack the board before handing the ball to their bowlers. Kishan's endurance—batting an entire day in a final—shows the physical conditioning and concentration that selectors look for at the top level.

What this means for his Test dream:

After a stretch away from international cricket, Kishan has been working his way back through the domestic circuit. A double hundred in a high-profile Duleep final is exactly the kind of performance that gets noticed in selection meetings. This competition has always been a proving ground for fringe Test players, and knocking for 250 while standing at the crease all day demonstrates both form AND temperament.

The clock spent at the wicket and the sheer scale of the score make this impossible to overlook. Whether it converts into a recall depends on the next selection cycle, but Kishan has firmly re-entered the conversation.

From an investor's lens: this is exactly the kind of high-visibility performance that moves a player's "value" in the selection market. Kishan just made a strong play.
