'Fixing' Concern Surrounds Pakistan Team, Data Transferred From 2 Players' Phones: Report

Pakistan Cricket in Turmoil: Phones Seized, "Fixing" Speculation Swirls Around Squad Overhaul

Namaste, members of this wonderful cricketing family. Let me share something that has sent ripples through the cricketing world—like an unexpected discordant note in an otherwise harmonious raga.

The PCB has made waves by sending home seven players and replacing two coaches (Sarfaraz Ahmed as head coach and Umar Gul as bowling coach) mid-series, ahead of the third Test against England. On the surface, poor form in the first two matches was cited. But Pakistani media now suggest the story runs far deeper than run charts.

The Phone Controversy

Reports from Geo News (via Dawn) claim the PCB confiscated data from the phones of two veterans—Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq—during the team's stay in London. According to 365 News, several other players' devices were also seized and will be retained until the final Test concludes.

The phones were reportedly taken after the team's crushing 194-run defeat at Lord's, with data transferred to another device before being returned hours later.

Official Response

PCB Director of Media, Amir Mir, confirmed an internal disciplinary inquiry is underway, stating the board is reviewing "discipline and conduct" matters under standard procedures. However, he stopped short of confirming the fixing allegations directly.

The Injury Row

Adding fuel to the fire, PCB Director of High Performance, Aaqib Javed, launched a scathing attack on Imam-ul-Haq, who missed the second Lord's innings with a muscle injury:

"How is it possible that a pulled muscle ruled you out of batting in both innings? He should have tried and fought. He'll have to face an inquiry."

Aaqib admitted he can't prove fakiness, but insists such an injury shouldn't prevent batting altogether.

The Bigger Picture

Seven new players were drafted in—including five yet to make international debuts—with only Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal being capped.

A tense period lies ahead. The cricketing world watches closely as the PCB navigates these "more than cricket" concerns.

Will the truth emerge, or will this remain shrouded in speculation? Only time will tell.

Jai Hind. 🏏
