"North Pole And South Pole": Ex-India Star's Stunning Comparison Of Shubman Gill And Hardik Pandya As Captains

"North Pole & South Pole": Nehra Breaks Down Gill vs Pandya as Captains 🎶

Fellow the rhythm of leadership, one must appreciate how two temperaments shape a side differently. Our own Ashish Nehra, GT's head coach, recently offered a fascinating look at India's current captain Shubman Gill alongside his former captain-coach partner Hardik Pandya.

Nehra, who stood beside Hardik in GT's title-winning debut season (2022) and 2023 final run, painted a vivid picture:

"They are very, very different. You are talking about north pole and south pole."

Both, he noted, came to captaincy without heavy formal coaching — learning as they went, much like himself.

On Hardik Pandya — a heart open to guidance:

He completely trusted Nehra, ever keen to learn, always asking "what went wrong." A man of long conversations, pouring his soul into the role.

On Shubman Gill — quiet, observant, pointed:

A little reserved, a little shy, but equally eager to improve. He doesn't dwell in chatter, yet every word lands where it should. To the point. To learn. To grow.

Nehra, speaking at the CAB annual awards as special guest, called Gill a genuine "work in progress" — only 26, leading India in two formats, with years ahead to refine his craft. "He is only going to get better."

A reminder that leadership, like music, finds its own tempo. 🎵
