‘Learn from Ishan Kishan’: Ex-India cricketer’s message to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

🏏 Duleep Trophy Final: Ishan Kishan's Masterclass Leaves a Lesson for Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
What a knock by our East Zone captain! Ishan Kishan strode to a magnificent 270 off 334 balls in the Duleep Trophy final at Chepauk, blasting 30 fours and seven sixes before being caught near the long-on boundary. He fell just 30 short of a triple century, but his innings stands as the 8th-highest individual score in Duleep Trophy history and formed the backbone of East Zone's mammoth 708 all out.
The chase of the big total began on 385/4, and Kishan wasted no time putting pressure on South Zone's bowlers. Mohammad Siraj and MD Nidheesh struggled with the new ball, and even part-time stumps from Devdutt Padikkal and Shaikh Rasheed couldn't stem the flow. Kumar Kushagra joined the party with his 6 FC century (101 off 132), and the side raced past 600, then 700—only the 3rd time ever at Chepauk!
💬 Former India cricketer Vivek Razdan didn't hold back on commentary, turning to teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (who made a brisk 44 off 37): "Sooryavanshi sahab, now you have to learn from players like Ishan Kishan. Once you are set, you have to learn how to play a long innings."
Razdan rightly praised the match fitness required too: "This is not just technique, this is not just temperament, this is also match fitness. To stay out there for so long in such heat and play an innings like this."
For Sooryavanshi, the message is clear: scoring quickly is only part of the equation. Now he must learn to convert a promising start into a substantial innings—exactly what his captain did today. 💫
