Nashra Sandhu scripts history with remarkable six-for in Women's Asia Cup 2026

Sandhu's 6/7 Rewrites Records, Pakistan Seal Asia Cup Semis

Nashra Sandhu produced a leftarm spin masterclass that will live in Pakistan women's cricket history. Against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday, she ripped through the batting lineup with figures of 6 for 7 in 4 overs. First Pakistan bowler ever to take six wickets in a Women's T20I — and she did it on the biggest stage available.

The Match

Pakistan posted 143/8, with Shawaal Zulfiqar anchoring the innings with a quickfire 47 off 35. Joyleen Kaur kept it tight for Hong Kong with 4/19, but the chase never really got going. Chasing 144, Hong Kong were bowled out for 71 in 19 overs. Kary Chan top-scored with 30 off 47, but the rest couldn't build anything, and wickets tumbled throughout. Pakistan won by 72 runs.

The Record Book

This isn't just a personal milestone — it's a national record. Sandhu's 6/7 smashed Omaima Sohail's previous best of 5/13 vs Sri Lanka in 2022, a mark that had stood for four years. When a bowler dismantles a four-year-old record like that, you know you're witnessing peak performance.

What Comes Next

Pakistan finished second in Group A behind India with 4 points, setting up a semifinal clash with Sri Lanka on September 11 at the same venue. This is a genuine step up in quality — Sri Lanka will need a solid plan to contain Sandhu's turn and accuracy. If she's firing on all cylinders heading into this one, Pakistan have real cause for confidence.

The data's clear: this is a bowler at the top of her powers, and Pakistan's semifinal hopes ride heavily on her shoulders.
