Nahid Rana Unlikely To Get NOC For BBL After Recent Recovery From Injury: Report

Nahid Rana's BBL Dream Fading After Injury Recovery

Bangladesh fast bwl Nahid Rana looks unlikely to pick up a BBL deal this season after just recovering from a Grade 2 side strain. BCB Pres Tamim Iqbal confirmed the speedster won't easily clear the NOC hurdle, despite several BBL franchises reportedly keen to sign him.

The next BBL runs Dec 12–Jan 26, but the BCB's priority is clear—Rana's fitness and workload management come first. As a BCB official told Cricbuzz, they haven't even received an official NOC request yet, and chances of clearance are "very slim" given the international commitments stacked up ahead.

Workload Management From a Medical View

From a sports medicine lens, this is exactly the right call. A Grade 2 side strain is a significant muscle tear, and returning to bowling just this week means he's still in the early rehab phase. Throwing a freshly recovering fast bwl into the high-intensity BBL environment, then into international fixtures, would be reckless. His long-term availability matters far more than a short-season franchise gig.

What's Coming Up For Rana

The 23-yr-old is set to miss the Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya) later this month, with BCB confirming the squad. The target is to have him back for the UAE away series vs Afghanistan next month. Beyond that, Bangladesh have a packed calendar: two WTC Tests vs West Indies (Oct–Nov), then an all-format series in South Africa (Nov–Dec)—with Rana remaining a key part of the plans.

There's also lingering hope for the India tour (originally slated for Sept), though relations between the boards have left it in limbo. Tamim stayed cautiously optimistic, noting intentions remain "very positive."

Bottom line: BBL allure aside, Rana's recovery and Bangladesh's longer-term needs take priority. Smart management now protects a valuable fast bwl's career.
