Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Convinces Ishan Kishan To Use DRS, Shows Why He Was Made Vice-Captain. Watch

The Vice-Captain's Whisper That Sealed the Wicket

Like a subtle alap that slowly reveals the raga, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been quietly building momentum in the Duleep Trophy 2026 — first as a valuable asset to East Zone, and now stepping gracefully into leadership. After taking the armband in the semifinal when Ishan Kishan went injured, Sooryavanshi is now proving why he was made vice-captain.

Day 3, Duleep Trophy Final: Veteran pacer Mukesh Kumar angling one down the leg side, coaxed a faint edge from Ricky Bhui, and Kumar Kushagra took it cleanly behind the stumps. The on-field call was not out, and initially the appeal went unanswered. That's when Sooryavanshi stepped in — his earnest "take it, take it" carried clearly over the stump mic, and Ishan signalled for the review.

UltraEdge told the story instantly: bat-ball contact confirmed, and the decision flipped to out. 🎯

The on-air commentator didn't hold back in crediting the young vice-captain: "Wonderful catch by Kushagra, but if you're taking a review, you go to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi." A moment that quietly showcases the leadership instinct many had been waiting to see.

A small gesture, a patient nudge — and a wicket that could tilt the final. That, perhaps, is the mark of a true leader. 🏏
