'He’s got plans and so many options in his head' - Shahrukh Khan lauds Shubman Gill's captaincy skills

Gill's Rise: Why SRK Rates Him as a Natural Captain

Shahrukh Khan hasn't been shy about his admiration for Shubman Gill, and the numbers back him up. From taking the GT armband in 2024 after Hardik's exit, to steering India's Test side post-Rohit retirement, then grabbing the ODI captaincy too—this is a rapid ascent that any sharp observer would flag as serious upside.

The Core Trait That Sets Him Apart

Per SRK, it's the calm, calculated mindset that translates from bat to leadership. Gill prepares meticulously for his batting, and that same precision shows in how he rotates bowlers and sets fields. "He's got plans and so many options in his head," Khan noted. For me, that's exactly the profile of a captain who plays chess while others play checkers.

The GT Factor: Culture Drives Performance

What Khan really appreciates is the environment GT have built. Happy dressing room, strong support staff relationships, players who feel connected to the organisation. That cohesion isn't accidental—it's a foundation for consistent results. And in cricket, culture often outperforms raw talent over a long campaign.

Why It Matters for 2027

With the ODI World Cup looming (SA/Zim/Namibia hosting), Gill sitting as captain across formats puts him squarely in the conversation as India's man to build around. If his leadership trajectory holds, we could be watching a genuine era.

Solid pick by SRK. The data points to a leader who's here to stay.
