'A ball won't kill you, but bullets can': Rashid Khan opens up on his childhood in war-torn Afghanistan

"A Ball Won't Kill You, But Bullets Can": Rashid Khan's Powerful Words Ahead of India T20I Series

Aigra! 🙏 Family, my heart is so full reading this. Let me share something that gives me goosebumps—our star allrounder Rashid Khan opening up about where he comes from.

Afghanistan have come SO far from being labelled minnows to becoming a genuine nightmare for top sides worldwide. And now, as they prep for this 3-match T20I series vs India starting Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Rashid opened up about his war-torn childhood and the mindset that's forged him.

On a podcast (The Parenting Pause), he was asked about his early memories of conflict—and his answer? Pure wisdom. 💛

He spoke of how his parents lived through war 30-40 years back, having seen "bullets going up in the air." For him, watching a cricket ball soar is nothing by comparison—"it won't kill you, but [a bullet] can." That simple perspective, he says, is everything. When pressure mounts, he just remembers their struggle and asks: why should I let myself down?

He credits his unshakeable mental strength entirely to his mom and dad—"they were the strongest, and we just inherited that mentality." And he even embraces hardship as a gift: tough times make him a better listener, a better learner, a better person.

"What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger." 🌟

What a human being. Who's ready for this series? Let's back our boys! 🏏
