Jordan Hermann Hits 150 on ODI Debut as South Africa Beat Namibia by 99 Runs

Hermann's Debut Heroics Seal SA Victory Over Namibia

What a start to Jordan Hermann's ODI career! The lefthand bat walked out for the first time on Wednesday and immediately went big, scoring 150 to help South Africa cruise to a 99-run win over Namibia in the first ODI in Windhoek.

The Batting Show

After Connor Esterhuizen slipped away for 10, Hermann and Tony de Zorzi put on a monstrous 190 for the second wicket. Hermann was in total control—facing 126 balls with 17 fours and three sixes before his undoing. A soft, lofted shot off quick Ruben Trumpelmann found Louren Steenkamp at extra cover, ending a memorable night. De Zorzi backed him up nicely with 72 (one six, four fours) before being trapped lbw by Gerhard Erasmus after a lengthy DRS wait.

South Africa posted a imposing 348/6 in their 50 overs.

The Bowling & Reply

Namibia's chase never really got going. Set 262 in 31 overs under the DLS method after rain struck twice, they faltered to 162/8. Spinner Prenelan Subrayen did the bulk of the damage with 4/29, while Marnus Kruger (34) and J.J. Smit (31) picked up a few wickets in return.

The Bigger Picture

It's been a whirlwind few days for Hermann—his career-best T20I knock of 53 on Sunday gave SA the triseries title against Zimbabwe, and this ODI ton caps off an incredible start to both limited-overs careers. Playing at a 2027 World Cup venue, it feels like the arrival of someone special.

SA leads the series 1-0. Next up: ODI #2.
