47-year-old South Africa legend sets world record with career-best figures in CPL

Tahir's Magic at 47: Oldest Bowler Ever Takes a T20 Fivefor
Chef's kiss performance, cricket fans! 🍳 At 47 years and 166 days, Imran Tahir just rewrote the history books—becoming the oldest bowler in men's T20 history to claim a fivefor. He nicked the record from Cook Islands' Tomakunte Ritawa (46y 299d), who'd done it against Fiji back in 2022.
Against the St Lucia Kings at Providence, the veteran leggie led from the front with career-best figures of 5-17, skittling the Kings for a mere 119. He picked off Kamil Pooran, Roston Chase, McKenny Clarke, Matthew Forde, and Joshua Bishop—his sixth T20 fivefor, second-most in the format, just behind David Wiese's seven.
What's wild? Tahir occupies three spots in the top 10 oldest fivefor-takers. Last year he was second-oldest ever, and now he's sitting pretty at the top of that list.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz also lit it up on his CPL debut with a tidy 3-for (13 runs in 4 overs), while Quentin Simpson's quickfire 37 not out off 11 balls (five sixes, a four) wrapped it up in an 18.3-over chase.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors are now top of the CPL table with 14 points—one of just two teams to seal playoff qualification. 🏆
Old age is but a number when you've got the spin to back it up!
