Shafali Verma Steers India To Women's Asia Cup Final With Comfortable Win Over Bangladesh

Shafali's Flawless Concert: India Reach Women's Asia Cup Final

Namaste, dear friends. If cricket is music, then Shafali Verma played tonight a solo so pure that the whole stadium held its breath. 🎶

The Match

On a sluggish Dubai surface—where batting felt like an alap played in slow tempo—Shafali stood alone, scoring a fluent 64 off 40. She was dropped three times (on 6, 11 and 56) and made Bangladesh pay for each mercy. Her strokeplay carried India to 149/5, and the seven-time champions then defended comfortably, restricting Bangladesh to just 109/7 in their 20 overs—a comfortable 40-run victory.

The Rhythm of the Innings

The pitch demanded patience; the top four batted below a 100 SR. But Shafali? A magnificent 160 SR, three sixes off the spinners, front-foot pulls, reverse sweeps, hits down the ground—she played every shot in the park. 🏏

Pratika Rawal (20 off 24) gave a sizzling start with a textbook cover drive, while Richa Ghosh (21 off 16) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (24*, struggling early but redeeming herself with late sixes) added valuable runs.

Bangladesh's Silence

Their bowling had been impressive all tournament, but four dropped catches let them down. Opener Juairiya Ferdous (14 off 18) and Dilara Akter (21 off 26) fell trying to clear midwicket—Akter dismissed via Kranti Gaud's brilliant running catch. The Indian spin trio of Deepti Sharma (3/26), Shree Charani (1/14) and Prema Rawat (1/21) kept them quiet.

The Final Movement

India face either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in Sunday's final. With seven titles (four in 50-over, three in T20), they remain this tournament's most successful side—though they remember the shocking loss to Sri Lanka last edition.

A night where luck, skill, and patience converged into harmony. 🎵
