Bumrah fit, Rana out: BCCI fires physio ahead of Afghanistan T20Is

Ghungroo sounds, let's talk cricket! 🏏

Bumrah Back in Action, Rana Injury-Buffed

Team India wrapped their first practice session at Ferozeshah Kotla Thursday, with the exciting news that Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been cleared fit after months of rehab at the CoE. Both will fly to Japan for the Asiad after the T20I series vs Afghanistan (starts Sun).

However, pacers faced another setback—Harshit Rana suffered a recurring injury during his match simulation. Yash Thakur steps in as replacement.

Physio Let Go Amid Injury Woes

Here's the drama: BCCI has parted ways with team physio Kamlesh Jain following the spate of injuries to key players. This follows earlier criticism from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia back on Aug 6.

ODI World Cup Concerns Mount

The recurring injuries are testing the management as they plot next year's ODI World Cup. Interestingly, the depth in T20I is strong, but the ODI format is becoming a headache.

When the WI ODI series kicks off in Thiruvananthapuram (Sept 27), Gambhir will be missing Bumrah, Iyer, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan, and Reddy. Hardik Pandya's availability remains uncertain amid ongoing rehab.

Coach Morne Morkel hasn't even joined yet—still awaiting visa renewal.

First T20I Stays Put

Despite Delhi traffic police requesting a reschedule due to the BRICS summit arrangements, DDCA confirmed the 1st T20I (Sept 13) will proceed as scheduled, with assured police support. 🙏
