Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the final? 'Doesn't matter,' says Deepti Sharma

"I think that it will be a day here or a day there, it happens," Deepti Sharma says after India had another poor fielding day in the Women's T20 Asia Cup semi-final against Bangladesh

An India vs Pakistan final at the Women's T20 Asia Cup is very much on, but standing in the way of the second round of that big-ticket contest in the competition this season are Sri Lanka, the defending champions. Deepti Sharma isn't fussed one way or the other but said the Indians would "watch as a team tomorrow's game [semi-final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka]" to formulate their plans.

"After this game, we'll sit together tomorrow and we will see tomorrow's game, that will help us to do more strategy towards the finals," Deepti said after putting in another sterling show with the ball in India's semi-final against Bangladesh, which India won by 40 runs.

"Actually, it depends on their result, but Indian team is knowing about that," she said when asked who India would rather meet in the final. "Team doesn't take any team lightly. Doesn't matter, like maybe Sri Lanka, Pakistan, whoever comes in the final. We always think as a team how we can do better in each and every game. As a collective team performance, how we can do better. So that's what…"RelatedDeepti rises to No. 6 on T20I bowling rankings

Shafali, Deepti power India into sixth T20 Asia Cup final

India have an all-win record in the competition so far, and one of the teams they have got the better of is Pakistan: India bowled Pakistan out for just 55 in that game and strolled past the target with 68 balls in hand. Deepti had taken two wickets then, and after her 3 for 26 in the semi-final against Bangladesh, is the top wicket-taker at the Asia Cup with 11 strikes. She hasn't had much to do with the bat, though, but chipped in with a six-ball 13 not out, with a four and a six, against Bangladesh.

Actually, when I started my cricket journey [it was] as an allrounder, so it [being able to contribute in two departments] always helped from the starting only," she said. "Whenever I get an opportunity in batting, I always trust that I can contribute in batting also. So I'm glad [about the] few balls I got to hit today. It always gives me confidence. Either bowling first or batting first doesn't matter to me, but I always contribute as an allrounder for the team."

One of the areas of concern for India, which might yet hurt them in the title round, is their fielding. Particularly their catching. It's continued to be a weakness, and against Bangladesh, they put down four chances.

"As a team in fielding, we have been doing good [work in training]. We are doing practice sessions taking, you know, a number of catches as well as fielding also," Deepti said. "I think that it will be a day here or a day there, it happens. But we are always up for the finals as a team in all three departments."
