'Future captain, maybe?': Ishan Kishan's banter with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi goes viral - WATCH

Banter, not batting, might steal the show: Ishan-Kishan's viral Duleep moment 🏏💃

Namaste cricket family! Grab your chai, because this one's pure masala — a light-hearted exchange between Ishan Kishan and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken the internet by storm after East Zone's magical Duleep Trophy 2026/27 win against South Zone. 🎉

The Player of the Match hero

Kishan, who donned the captaincy armband for East Zone in the final, was absolutely stellar with the bat — crossing 350+ runs across both innings, including a jaw-dropping 270 in the first Inn. He walked away with Player of the Match honours, a knock that had everyone on their feet. But it wasn't the batting that went viral — it was the banter.

Who took the DRS credit? 😄

In a video posted on the BCCI's official handle, Kishan playfully accused his 15-year-old deputy of hogging all the credit for the successful DRS reviews.

"He took all the credit everywhere. I was going to take the review, but he'd come over so confidently and say, 'Captain, I'll handle it.' Then the internet goes wild: Vaibhav! My goodness! Vaibhav is the one!" Kishan joked.

Sooryavanshi wasn't one to back down, firing back instantly: "And when we were walking off the field, who was taking the reviews? Tell us that too!"

Future captain material?

Kishan, ever the gracious senior, praised the youngster's leadership qualities and hinted at a bright captaincy future. "More than a very good player, he's a nice boy who cares for everyone — juniors and seniors alike." He even caught himself calling the teen a "junior," quickly correcting: "Oh, you're not a junior anymore now, sorry, sorry!"

Sooryavanshi on the magic

The teenager echoed the joy in the East Zone camp and heaped praise on Kishan's captaincy and that monumental final knock. "It was unbelievable. The match changed right there. Playing under his captaincy was a lot of fun."

The real takeaway

Kishan wrapped it up with words worth remembering: "The most important thing is to enjoy. As a team, that's what matters." 🙏

A reminder that cricket isn't just about runs and wickets — it's about the bonds we build and the laughter we share. What did you all think of this heartwarming exchange? Let's chat! 💬
