Jasprit Bumrah, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on Afghanistan's radar: Ibrahim Zadran reveals plans

Hey cricket fam! 🏏 Let's talk about the exciting T20I opener between India and Afghanistan this Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran has revealed some intriguing strategies his team has in store.

Targeting Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is set to return to international cricket after missing matches due to a left knee injury. Zadran admitted that Bumrah is one of the best fast bowlers and even his personal favourite. However, he emphasized that Afghanistan won't overcomplicate their approach against the Indian pacer.

"We have a very good plan for him," Zadran stated. "We just thought about how to play against him, and hopefully we are going to play better cricket against Jasprit Bumrah or the Indian Cricket Team."

Keeping an Eye on Sooryavanshi

Afghanistan has also prepared for India's teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The team has gathered information from players who have faced the lefhanded opener in the IPL and studied his videos before the series.

"He is an amazing talent," Zadran praised. "We have already watched his videos, and we just try to keep it very simple for ourselves, just to execute the right plans at the right time against him."

New Captain, Fresh Start

Zadran has taken over the T20I captaincy from Rashid Khan. He believes their strong relationship will help Afghanistan make a fresh start after their early exit from the T20 World Cup.

"I would say, I was destined to have a captain like Rashid Khan," Zadran reflected. "Alongside him, we had better communication, better understanding between us."

Aiming for First Series Win

Afghanistan have yet to beat India in a bilateral T20I series, but Zadran is hopeful his side can change that. He emphasized the importance of executing their plans and focusing on the process rather than the result.

"Yes, we have played better cricket against India," he noted. "In 2024, we had two super overs against them in the T20I series in Bengaluru."

As the match approaches, all eyes will be on how Afghanistan's strategies unfold against India's star-studded lineup. Will they finally clinch that elusive series victory? Only time will tell! 🇮🇳🇦🇾
