Watch: ‘Good job sir’ — Pak fan praises Mohsin Naqvi after India snub trophy

Women's Asia Cup Trophy Snub Sparks Fresh Controversy 🏆
Team India sealed a record 8th Women's Asia Cup title, beating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final on Sunday—but the trophy presentation became the real talking point.
Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates chose not to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council president & PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, sticking with the stance the men's team took last year. Naqvi stayed on stage and handed the runner-up cheque to Chamari Athapaththu instead.
The controversy deepened when a video surfaced showing a Pakistan supporter praising Naqvi as he left the Dubai stadium: "Good job sir... They [India] don't deserve this trophy." Naqvi was seen smiling and waving. As his car drove off, "Trophy chor" chants echoed through the venue—echoing the men's 2025 Asia Cup final mess.
BCCC secretary Devajit Saikia explained the team's decision, linking it to the ongoing tensions after the April 2025 Pahalgam incident and continued military conflict. He said the women's side showed solidarity with the men's call, noting the government's policy requires playing against all nations in multi-country tournaments—but that doesn't mean accepting every condition.
"We tried to solve today's situation, but our efforts were not successful. We don't have any regrets. Our ultimate priority was not to focus on who would give the trophy. We wanted the Indian team to win and we've achieved that."
India got the hardware. The debate continues. 🇮🇳
