Varun Chakaravarthy ruled out of Afghanistan T20I series

Namaste, cricket lovers! 🙏 Let me share an important update with you all.
Indian mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out of the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The 35yo bwl picked up a fresh injury after Sunday's first contest at Arun Jaitley Stadium, which India won comfortably by 7 wkts.
The exact cause of the injury remains unclear. A BCCI source confirmed the news, saying it's a brand new injury and that Varun is now out of the series entirely.
This is a tough break for the spinner, who had only just recovered from a hamstring issue that had kept him out of the white-ball matches in England back in July. In the opening T20I, he was brilliant—claiming a wicket while handing out just 16 runs in his 4 overs.
Interestingly, Varun had earlier voiced his injury worries, admitting this was his very first muscle injury, noting that all his past problems had been impact-related from on-field accidents.
His absence once again casts spotlight on the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), which has faced heavy scrutiny over the frequent injuries to players lately.
Most importantly, this injury now leaves Varun doubtful for the Asian Games in Japan, kicking off on Sept 19. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery! 🤞
