55*, 148, 114*, 109*: Sri Lanka opener extends glorious run of form with third consecutive ton in domestic semifinal

Nishan Madushka's Ton-a-Ton Run Lights Up Sri Lankan Domestic Knockouts 🏏
What a stretch of cricket for Colombo CC opener Nishan Madushka. Four matches, three consecutive centuries, and a fifty—pure fireworks in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
It kicked off on Sep 5 with a quickfire 55* (44 balls) against Kurunegala YCC in the Major Clubs T20 group stage, setting up Colombo's quarterfinal spot. Two days later, he turned up the heat with a monster 148* (132 balls) vs Sinhalese CC in the 50over semifinal—but his side lost by a single run in a 332-run chase. Ouch.
Then came the T20 quarterfinal against Ace CCC: 114* off just 56 balls with 9 fours and 8 sixes, blasting Colombo to 218 before his bowlers sealed a 64-run win. And in the T20 semifinal vs Tamil Union, he went top-edge 109* (65 balls, 7 fours, 6 sixes) while chasing 194—smashing 12 in the final over despite 13 needed.
Unfortunately, the story had a bitter twist. Madushka got napped for a duck on the first ball of the super over (Binura Fernando striking), Colombo bowled out for zero, and Tamil Union crept through to the final. So two of his three knockouts came in losing causes—a reminder that runs don't always translate to wins.
The numbers don't lie: In the T20 tournament, he finished with 296 runs in 5 innings at a staggering average of 148 and a strike rate of 164.44. In the 50over competition, 206 runs at 51.50 average.
This young opener is announcing himself. Colombo CC and Sri Lankan cricket could be looking at their next big batting name. 👀
