Matt Renshaw Slams Maiden ODI Hundred, First For Australia Against Zimbabwe Since 2004
Renshaw's Maiden ODI Century Powers Australia to 294 vs Zimbabwe
Matt Renshaw finally broke through for his long-awaited ODI ton, firing a confident 109 in the series opener at Harare Sports Club. It's the first Australian century against the Chevrons since Michael Clarke's 105\* back in 2004 — and notably the fastest by an Aussie against them, beating Gilchrist's 89-ball knock from that same Hobart game.
The innings
Aussies batted first and found themselves in a spot of bother at 83/3 in 13 overs. Renshaw, a left-hand AR who debuted in the 2025 India series, steadied the ship. He brought up his fifty off 55 before accelerating, reaching his hundred off 86 deliveries with boundaries at will. His knock came to an end when caught at deep midwicket off Newman Nyamhuri — who picked up his maiden 5-wkt haul with the scalp.
Supporting cast
Cooper Connolly (51), Oliver Peake (30) and Mitchell Marsh (36) provided solid backing as Australia posted a workmanlike 294.
Team news
Notable workload calls ahead of a tough season: Cameron Green missed the Playing XI with shoulder soreness, while Josh Hazlewood was rested for management reasons.
A solid platform — now Zimbabwe need to chase this down at home turf.
