AFG vs IND 2026: Afghanistan vs India Highlights & Review – 2nd T20I

IND vs AFG 2nd T20I: India Seal Series, Samson Blasts Fast Fifty
India wrapped up the series with a comfortable 7-wicket win over Afghanistan in the 2nd T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi (Sept 15). Shreyas Iyer picks up his first home series win as skipper—and the lead now stands at 2-0.
Af innings: India struck early again—Rahmanullah Gurbaz ducked again (his 2nd in a row), this time off Arshdeep Singh. A could-not-settle Afghan side lost wickets at crucial junctures. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored, and a late stand between Rashid Khan & Mohammad Nabi dragged them to 159/8. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the pick of the bowlers—3/24 off 3 overs, ripping off the wickets of Zadran, Naib and Rashid himself.
Chase: India flew once more. Sanju Samson & Abhishek Sharma put on 88 off 38 balls for the top order. Abhishek carried his hot form with 39 off 19, while Samson annihilated a quickfire 57 off just 22 balls—7 fours, 4 sixes, SR 259.29. His fifty came off 20 balls (his fastest T20I fifty), and India cruised home with 31 balls to spare.
Player of the Match: Nitish Kumar Reddy—for that controlled, match-breaking 3/24 spell.
Records that caught my eye:
- Sanju Samson—5th Indian to hit 1000 runs as a T20I opener
- Mohammad Nabi—4th player ever to complete the 2500 runs + 100 wickets T20I double (proper all-rounder legacy building)
- Nabi/Rashid—3rd highest 7th-wicket-or-lower partnership for Afg in T20Is
- Afghanistan's 10th successive T20I loss vs India—a glaring trend worth exploiting in market terms
Next: 3rd T20I, Thursday Sept 17. A series already in the bag, so expect rotation. Watch how India manage squad depth down the stretch.
