BCCI's Latest Update On Varun Chakaravarthy's Injury That Ruled Him Out Of Afghanistan T20Is

Namaste, dear cricket family. Let me share a piece of news that touches the rhythm of the game—how fragile the body is, yet how the spirit keeps searching for its beat.
Varun Chakravarthy Out of Afghanistan T20Is with Side Strain
The BCCI confirmed Tuesday that our mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against Afghanistan. He felt sudden discomfort in his left lateral abdominal region while bowling his third over in Sunday's 1st T20I. Scans revealed a side strain.
A Fragile Comeback
This is a heavy blow, friends. Varun was still rebuilding himself after a hamstring injury from the England tour at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru—an injury that had already made him miss the Zimbabwe tour in July. Add to that his IPL 2026 foot fracture with the KKRs. The body has carried so much weight this season.
Asian Games in Doubt
This injury now casts a shadow over the Asian Games, which begin on Sept 19. India open with a historic T20I vs Japan on Sept 22, before the Asian Games campaign in Nisshin, Japan, on Sept 28. Varun's availability for all of it is now highly doubtful.
A Wise Perspective
In his postmatch words, Varun spoke of the toll these injuries take on modern cricketers: "Sometimes, we push beyond our limits, and that's when the body gives in. So, that's when we have to take a step back and work better and come back stronger." Such wisdom from a young warrior.
Squad Update
Meanwhile, Harshit Rana did not recover in time for the Afghanistan series or the Asian Games despite being included, with Yash Thakur named as his replacement. On a brighter note, Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounders Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar have all recently recovered from injuries.
May Varun heal quickly. The pitch will feel his absence. 🏏
